Notice of Reinstatement

Members of the Public are hereby advised that Ms. Tania A Chambers has been restored to the Roll of Attorneys-at-law entitled to practise in the several courts in Jamaica.

This order was made by a panel of the Disciplinary Committee on the 28th November 2015.

On the 26th April 2014, a panel of the Disciplinary Committee heard a complaint against Tania A Chambers in her absence, the panel having satisfied itself that the attorney had been properly served with Notice of the Hearing of the complaint in keeping with the legal requirements.

The panel found the attorney guilty of professional misconduct and ordered that the attorney’s name be struck from the Roll of Attorneys entitled to practise in Jamaica.

The attorney subsequently applied to the panel for a re-hearing of the complaint pursuant to which she had been found guilty of professional misconduct.

The application for a hearing was heard and granted. The complaint was reheard and the attorney was found guilty of professional misconduct for having failed to file accountant’s reports in keeping with the provisions of the Legal Profession (Accounts and Records) Regulations 1999.

The panel imposed a fine on the attorney for the proven breaches of the said regulations. The order for the striking off of the attorney is no longer in effect.
