Pamela Benka-Coker was admitted to practice in Jamaica after having being called to the English Bar as a Barrister-at-Law. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1992 and has continued to carry on a sole practice as an advocate.

Mrs Benka-Coker is a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the General Legal Council and served as its Chairman for several years. She is also a member of the Council of the Jamaican Bar Association.

Mrs. Benka-Coker is the Charter president of the Kiwanis Club of New Kingston. In 2010, the Chief Justice appointed her to chair the Emergency Powers Review Tribunal established during the state of emergency that was declared in that year.
